How Lean Constuction helps business and organisation improve their productivities
One of our clients, an electrical engineering for construction company in Malaysia, is facing several challenges including high rework for building electrical work, project delays, delay in the supply of relevant cables, overstock of many electrical components, and non-standard work quality by contract employees.
We engaged in a 3-month project to implement LEAN methodologies in electrical engineering for constructions. We utilised LEAN project management, value stream management, LEAN standardised work and TWI, visual performance management, pull system and kanbans.
After 3 months of engagement, the team successfully achieved and improved project completion time by 30%, inventory cost reduced by RM300,000, rework reduced by 65%, and cable delay reduced by 95%.
One project we came across in consulting was a construction contractor based in Thailand facing challenges due to non-standard work by employees, high safety incidents, loss of man-hours, project completion delay, and high inventory usage and wastage.
To attend to the challenges, we engage with the client for 5 months implementing methodology like, 5S + safety – Kiken Yochi safety model, TWI and standardised work, LEAN inventory management and visual performance management.
Through the implementation of these methods, we were able to eliminate
